Anchor chains are important mooring and anchoring components used on ships, workboats, marine structures and related vessel applications. The correct anchor chain should be selected according to chain diameter, chain type, grade, surface treatment, certificate requirement and working environment.
This article shares a real anchor chain order from our Australian customer. The customer ordered a 14 mm diameter studless anchor chain with hot-dip galvanized surface treatment. This anchor chain was purchased together with D-type rubber fenders for ship use.

Project Background
This anchor chain order came from an Australian customer. The required size was 14 mm diameter, and the chain type was studless link anchor chain. The customer purchased the anchor chain together with D-type rubber fenders, so both mooring and vessel protection products were supplied for the same marine application.
Studless Anchor Chain for Ships
Studless anchor chains are commonly used for smaller vessels, workboats and marine applications where a flexible and practical chain structure is required. Compared with stud link chains, studless chains do not have a center stud inside each link. The correct selection depends on vessel size, working load, anchoring condition and project requirement.
Hot-Dip Galvanized Surface Treatment
The chain in this order was produced with hot-dip galvanized surface treatment. Hot-dip galvanizing helps improve corrosion resistance and is commonly selected for marine and outdoor environments. For anchor chains used near seawater, surface treatment is important for service life and maintenance.
Anchor Chain Grades and Diameter Options
YT Marine can provide Grade 2 and Grade 3 anchor chains for ships. Different grades are selected according to strength requirements, vessel use and project specifications. The available diameter range can cover many marine applications, and larger diameters can be produced close to 60 mm according to requirements.
Stud Link and Studless Chain Options
Anchor chains can be supplied as stud link chains or studless chains. Stud link chains are commonly used for heavier-duty ship anchoring and mooring applications because the center stud helps reduce deformation and twisting under load. Studless chains are often selected for lighter or more flexible applications. Buyers should confirm the chain type according to vessel size, working condition and technical requirement.
Classification Society Certificates
For ship and marine projects, buyers may require classification society certificates or inspection documents. Anchor chains can be supplied with certificates such as CCS, LR, DNV, ABS or other classification requirements depending on the project. Certificate requirements should be confirmed before quotation and production.
Information Needed for Anchor Chain Inquiries
For anchor chain inquiries, buyers can send chain diameter, chain type, grade, quantity or length, surface treatment, certificate requirement, application and destination. If the anchor chain needs to be supplied together with anchors, shackles, rubber fenders or other marine equipment, these details can also be checked together for project quotation.
Work with YT Marine
YT Marine provides anchor chains, mooring chains, mooring anchors, rubber fenders and related marine equipment for ships, docks, ports, shipyards and marine projects. Buyers can send drawings, specifications, photos or project requirements, and our team will review the details for suitable production and quotation support.
